Setup BHT 904B USB
Use this document to setup a USB Denso 904B scanner to be used in a CRADLE only.
If you are going to use the USB directly connected via USB cable, then you need to use the standard “220 – RBI BHT-904B Load Software RBI.doc” document.

Ensure Power is turned off (on the Nippon). | |
Hold Down ‘SFT’ + ‘0’ + ‘M1’ + ‘PWR’ keys, it will come up with a message ‘INITIALIZE SYSTEM' - 1:USER AREA EXCEPT FONTS’ | |
Select ‘ENGLISH’ then press 'ENT' Select 'Yes’ and press 'ENT' The unit will now Initialise and will then power off. | |
Power on the unit, by pressing the ‘SF’ + ‘1’ + ‘PWR’ keys. | |

Press ‘SF’ + ‘1’ to change Menu options; then Press '2: COMPATIBLE MODE'. | |
Select 'BHT-8000 FULLSCREEN' by pressing F8 (arrow right) twice, and press the 'ENT' key. | |
Hold down the 'BS/C' to go back to the previous 'SET SYSTEM' menu. Choose option ‘6: KEY’ and press the ‘ENT’ key. Choose option ‘7: BS/C KEY' and press the ‘ENT’ key. Press ‘ENT’ to edit the '1: HELD-DOWN TIME'; then press 'BS/C', type '1' and press ‘ENT’ again to save the setting. Press 'BS/C' TWICE to go back to the previous menu. Then choose option ‘5: COMMUNICATION’ and press the ‘ENT’ key. | |

The following menu will appear SET COM DEFAULT PORT Both these need to be set to Connector, to do this follow these instructions: | |
Choose option ‘1: for BASIC and f8 to arrow right for 'Connector'. Choose option ‘2: for SYSTEM MODE and f8 to arrow right for 'Connector'. Press ‘ENT’, then ‘BS/C’ twice to go back to the SYSTEM menu. | |
Setup Device to Copy the RBI software file onto it Choose '8: Device' then press the ‘ENT’ key. Press the 'ENT' key on the '1: USB' option. Highlight the 'MTP' Option (Press F7 or F8) and then press ‘BS/C’ 3 times, to go back to the SYSTEM MENU. | |
Now, Connect the Nippon to the PC via the USB Cable. (NOT THE CRADLE) | |
The following popup will appear in Windows: Click on 'Open device to View files'. | |
An explorer window will appear: Type in 'S:\WE\Share\Programs\BCUtilities\Software' into the address bar: | |
Copy the 'RBI.PD4' file; then go 'BACK' (click Left-Arrow in top-left corner) to the previous folder and Dbl-click the 'Handy terminal' to open the Nippon folder. | |
Paste the 'RBI.PD4' file into the 'Handy Terminal' folder. | |
Once the file has been copied, press 'BS/C' to stop copying, then press 'BS/C' again to go back to the previous menu. Choose '8: Device' then press the ‘ENT’ key. Press the 'ENT' key on the '1: USB' option. Highlight the 'COM' Option (Press F7 or F8) and then press ‘BS/C’ TWICE. Press the Power button to turn the Nippon off. | |
Power on the unit, by pressing the ‘SFT’ + ‘1’ + ‘PWR’ keys to access the menus. Then choose 1 to execute. From the list of available programs please select the RBI.PD4. When the software loads up, press 'ENT' to get past the RBI Welcome screen; then press “6: SETUP”, “5: SET BAUD RATE”, “5: 19200”. Press “9: COM MODE”, “2: IrDA/Cradle”. Press F6 (down arrow), to get to “10: Send Protocol”, “1: Raw”. | |
In Sales Logic, just use the normal “Nippon RBI – xxxxxxxx” choice to get the data from the Nippon. | |

EXTRA STEPS FOR A NEW SETUP (Out Of The Box): Set switch to correct type for Batteries being fitted to handheld unit: Ni-MH - for Rechargable Ni-MH batteries Alkaline - for Standard, non-rechargable Alkaline batteries. | |
Before connecting the Nippon to the PC: Setup and Install USB Driver Software: From the \BHT-904B Active USB-COM Port Driver\ folder -Run Setup.exe. -follow the Instructions in 'ActiveUSBCOM_Installation_Guide.pdf'. | |
