Suggested Order - How does it get calculated?
When the Suggested Order Report is run, it does the following when it calculates the amount it needs to order.
- 1 Min / Max
- 1.1 Advanced
- 1.1.1 Store Override Settings
- 1.2 Examples
- 1.1 Advanced
- 2 Sales History
Min / Max
When the Suggested Order report is based on the Min / Max it does the following:
It is based on the values in the Minimum and Maximum fields which can be found on the Quick Entry tab in Stock Entry.
Base Calculation
When the On Hand figure is BELOW the Minimum value, it will order up to the Maximum value.
Example
In the above example, as the On Hand figure (1) is below the Minimum (4), it will suggest to order 5 as that is in the Maximum field.
Supplier Settings
It would also take into account the values in the Main Supplier area as well, which depends on how the Suggested Order Report is setup when run.
It takes into account the following:
Min Order Qty
If the value is below the Min Order Qty, it will push the Suggested Order to the Min Order Qty
Pack Size Qty
If the Pack Size Qty is not 0, and the Break Packs = No, then it would round to the next Break Qty if the amount it wishes to order is higher the Next Break-Pack at percent set on the Suggested Order Report.
Suggested Order Option: Next Break-Pack at
For items that dont allow break packs or have multiple of minimum set, this is the point at which the next break pack size is ordered.
0% Always round packs up
50% Rounds to the nearest break pack quantity
100% Always round packs down
Advanced
Store Override Settings
As the settings in the Main Supplier area can be downloaded from your Warehouse from the Comparison Report, there are times where the store may wish to override settings provided by the Supplier.
The Store Override settings can be changed in the Ordering tab.
Store Minimum Order
If the value in this field is not 0, then this will override the Minimum Order value set for this supplier.
Store Multiple of Min (Yes/No)
This will override the Multiple of Minimum setting which is set on the supplier.
Examples
Next Break Pack 80% Example
Pack Size = 10. Maximum = 20. On Hand = 2
The suggested order is 20 minus 2 = 18. (Maximum MINUS On Hand)
As the Break Pack = No, it would order 1 Pack of 10, as the next 8 is 80% of the Pack size, it has reached its Next Pack size, so it will order 1 more pack.
This totals 20
Next Break Pack 90% example
In this example, it would not order the next pack until the next pack amount was 90% of the pack size.
Pack Size = 10. Maximum = 20. On Hand = 2
The suggested order is 20 minus 2 = 18. (Maximum MINUS On Hand)
As the Break Pack = No, it would order 1 Pack of 10, but as the next 8 is LESS then 90% of the Pack size, it has NOT reached its Next Pack size, so it wont order an additional pack.
This totals 10.
