There are many different types of Stock items in Striven and each one is handled differently in POS or other areas of the software.

The Stock Type can be changed in the Stock Entry screen, Type field.

Open

Normal Stock

This is our default Stock Type and doesnt prompt with any tallies and On Hand is adjusted.

Bundle Non Stocked

These products do not keep an On Hand figure themselves, but each time one of these products are sold it will adjust the on hands of its children only.

It will display the “Bundles Available” in the Stock window which tells you how many of these bundles are available based on the availability of each child.

Open

To add “children”, do this in the Stock Entry window, Bundle tab.

Press F10 to add new children to your bundle item.

Petrol

This will prompt with the Petrol tally window in POS, Ordering and Receivables.

Where you can enter in the Amount, and it will back calculate the Quantity.

Department Margin

These types of products are often used for “Miscellaneous” sales such as selling an item in POS when it cant find a barcode and you need to just finish off the sale. The On Hand value of this product wont change when sold or received.

It would prompt for the Retail Price when the sale is performed, and would back-calculate the Cost based on what has been entered in the Markup Percent on that stock item.

Once Off

Once Off products are used for items that the store doesnt want to create. They may be unique items that they know they will never sell again. The On Hand is never changed on a Once Off item.

The following tally is shown for a Once Off product. Allowing the user to enter in Cost, Markup or Retail in the POS screen.

The supplier field is sometimes greyed out and will not allow you to select a supplier as shown below

This is fixed by going to the Striven Main Menu then to POS > POS Settings > POS Settings (Tab on right hand side) and changing the “Place once-off items on creditor order” from “No” to “Prompt”

Non Stocked

A Non Stocked item can be used just like a Once Off item, but it doesnt allow you to change the Department, Group or Fineline, or Supplier details in POS.

The On Hand is never changed.

Zero Price Giveaway

Use this Stock Type for items you wish to keep On Hand tracking for but you want to sell them for $ 0.00 in POS. By default POS wont let you sell something for $ 0.00. It would normally prompt to enter in a price.

It could be used as a “Free Hat” when a customer purchases a type of product. The POS operator would need to scan the Free Hat, but will allow it to go through at $ 0.00
