HOW TO Setup Android Scanner

Follow these instructions to update the StrivenMobile APP on the Android Scanners.

This is for the PM80 and PM75 scanners. If you need to set it up for the PM85’s, then use this document.

 

 

Android Setup

If setting up scanner from NEW, ensure you plug in the battery which is in the box under the bottom layer.

Ensure that the Striven Support team have created an email alias for your store.  Please contact the Striven support desk for assistance with this.

Create a new google account in the format of <storename>@striven.com.au with password of Striven741

Follow these instructions to create the Google Account.

Ensure you plug in the battery which is in the package.

Note: Startup of device might vary depending on the version & flushing process.

Turn on the scanner.

You might get prompt for "No SIM card in the phone. Please insert a SIM card" just ignore it.

Click on the arrow to accept English (United States)

Insert SIM card

Click on Skip

Select WLAN (Wifi connection)

Connect to Striven Network if it is in Office.
Key in Striven Password. Press Connect

Note: This might take few minutes to get loaded. It might check for software update. Wait till it finish.

Got Another Device.

It might ask to copy settings from another device. Select "No Thanks". Press Next

Press Skip again on the next window where it ask to Skip account setup

It will now be on the google sign on page.

Key in your newly created account in Step 2. Press Next or green arrow to continue.

Eg. <storename>@striven.com.au

Key in Password for the email account which is Striven741. Press Next or green arrow to continue.

If it ask to Add Phone Numbers, Click on Skip

Accept the terms and conditions by touching the I agree button.

Scroll to the bottom to Press Next.

It will prompt for Google Services, Click on Next

Click on No, thanks on the Set up payment info window. Click on Continue.

Set up Email

If it prompts to enter in your email, press the < back arrow and then click on Not Now

Click on More, then Next to continue past the Google services terms and conditions.

Protect your phone

If you get to screen to protect your phone, Untick the checkbox & Click Skip

It will prompt for device protection not enabled, click Skip anyway

Setup is now complete. Touch FINISH to continue.

Click on the APPS icon in the middle at the bottom to display all the apps available.

Scroll to find Settings

Click ScanSetting

Select ScanSetting to be On

Click on Basic and ensure it looks like screen capture below.

Go back, and click on Options. Ensure it looks like this.

Go back and click on Notification and ensure you have a green dot on Enable vibrator

On the main settings window, click on Display

Click on Sleep

Click on 5 minutes

Click on When device is rotated

Click on Stay in current orientation

Click on Date & Time

Turn Off Automatic Time Zone

Click on Select Time Zone

Enter in the Time Zone that this scanner will be going to.

Google Play services

If you get the Update Google Play services, click on Update.

Click on Update, and Accept the terms.

It is worth checking the version of the android scanner to be latest.

Go to Settings → Scroll to bottom to find About Phone → Scroll to bottom to find the Build Number as shown in picture below

If it is not the latest version you can go to System Updates and installed the latest version.

Click 3 dots and select FOTA Client → Press Allow → Select Central US → Press OK on warning

It will start downloading. Downloading process will take around 20-30 mins depending on internet Speed. Once Downloaded it will install the updates.

It will prompt you to install updates, make sure it is safe to do so. 

Note: At this point you will loose connection to the Android Scanner as it will do updates. Keep the ID handy or contact the store to give access back.

Then press Continue

Once the Android Scanner is rebooted. Confirm that the version has been upgraded.

Note: This process of upgrading the version is also helpful if the scanner is not behaving properly, especially not scanning items.

In play store, search for "quicksupport". Select Teamviewer Quicksupport. Touch install button.

Click on the Open button after installation.

Scroll to the right 3 times.

It may prompt to add additional software for TeamViewer to work (Add-On PointMobile). Download and install this as well.

It will then show a TeamViewerID.  Setup this up for the relevant store (or send this information to Striven so they can dial in when required).

Download the

Striven MobileScan

from the GooglePlay store

Click on Install button.

Ensure you clear out the non-Striven related icons on the unit so it just has the TeamViewer and Striven on the bottom toolbar like this:

It is good idea to do some testing before hand to make sure it is working.

If this unit is physically at the store or in Striven Head Office, do the following.

Click on the lines as below, Go to Settings, Press Down Arrow next to Current Branch & Select New (Connect to new Branch)

Enter in the server ip address (note at the moment, it will only work with the IP address, not the domain name). Normally for a store it is 192.168.0.10 (server IP address).

Once the server IP has been entered, click on Save.

It should now prompt with a Register with server window showing a Request ID and PIN.

Now on the server at the store, double click on the HttpsStrivenMobileServer program and click on the Join Device button.

Note: If there is no connection requests then it is worth checking the Firewall settings to be off on server and restart the mobile scanner.

Enter in the PIN here and description click on OK.

Click on OK on the confirmation window.

On the scanner, click on Connect

On the MobileScan settings area, click on Duplicate Item Mode and click on Prompt to Merge option.

Remove all icons on the scanner other than StrivenScan and TeamViewer.

Ensure it has the Striven App down the bottom of the screen and the TeamViewer icon on the right




Set Date & Time

Goto Settings / Date & time

Select time zone and make sure it is set to Sydney GMT + 11:00 (Daylight Time) OR Sydney GMT + 10:00 (AEST)

Verify date & time match server date & time.




Verify TeamViewer can connect to the device after adding to the TeamViewer on the server.

Double click on it to start the connection

Tap on 'Allow" remote support on the device to allow the connection.

It will display the name of the remote user connecting to the device.


Verify Scanner is linked to server.

Open StrivenMobile software on the device.

Type in any stock item description to search. eg. hammer, the device will connect to the server database and display the stock items.




Test scanning

 Press on the orange buttons on each side to scan the barcode of a stock item. It will display the stock item code,description, quantity on hand, quantity on order, price and scan quantity.




After successfully testing the device is working, clear the scanned data before sending it to the store.

Go to Settings in the Android Applications menu

Select Apps 

Select Striven Scan and then Storage 

Select Clear Data




Factory Reset

Follow these steps to do a FACTORY RESET on the unit. This will CLEAR everything on the unit, so make sure you and the store are aware of that.

If the Scanner is not working properly restore it to factory settings

Click on Settings → Backup & Reset → Factory Data Reset → Reset Phone → Erase Everything

Barcode Scanner by Camera App

If you are installing this program on a phone or Android device without a scanner, then you need to install the following APP to allow the Camera to get the barcode details.
